Australian innovators are invited to present groundbreaking products, services, and technologies for a chance to win a share of $120,000 as part of the new look Land Forces 2024 Innovation Awards, which opened on Wednesday 3 April.
The Awards are designed to highlight and reward Australians at the forefront of innovation and are presented in conjunction with the Land Forces 2024 International Land Defence Exposition to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11-13 September.
The program takes new form in 2024, incorporating the prestigious Innovation Awards and the popular Innovation Pitchfest, to help showcase innovations at different phases of development.
Submissions are assessed by an expert panel of judges who will select up to 20 finalists. The finalists then pitch their idea to an audience of potential customers, partners and investors onsite at Land Forces 2024.
The pitch will work as a final bid to win one of three award categories:
The winner of each category will take home $40,000 to help progress the development of their innovation. Judges will also award Best Pitch on the day, to recognise the presenter who came closest to mastering the art of the three-minute pitch.
Since the Innovation Awards Program was launched by AMDA Foundation Limited (organiser of Land Forces 2024) in 2012, it has presented $685,000-worth of cash prizes to enterprising Australians across its events including the Avalon Australian International Airshow and the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition.
AMDA Foundation CEO Justin Giddings said by extending the Innovation Awards program at Land Forces 2024 to incorporate Pitchfest, innovative ideas at all stages of development will have the opportunity for recognition on a global stage.
“Land Forces 2024 is on track to be the largest defence industry exposition ever seen in Australia,” he said.
“We have therefore redesigned the Innovation Awards program to give Australian ingenuity, at various stages of technical maturity, a platform to showcase to the world’s land defence community.
“Industry’s ability to deliver on behalf of Australia’s Department of Defence is underpinned by its ability to innovate and bring to the market new products and services. That’s what our Awards seek to encourage.”
The Land Forces 2024 Innovation Awards are open to Australian individuals, companies or the Australian subsidiaries of overseas parent companies. The innovation could be anything from a new product or service to a new approach to business.
Entries will be judged on originality and their understanding of user needs.
